If your net profit now is 4%, and you reduce shrink by 1% of sales, you've increased profits by 25% (less the amortized and operating costs of your system improvements, of course.)  It is not unusual for investments in humidifiers and air purifiers to generate ROI/Payback in 12 months or less.
Humidifiers and Ethylene Scrubbers just make sense.

Ethylene Scrubbers/Air Purifiers - FAQs

What types of airborne contaminants will PCO Scrubbers eliminate?
PCO Scrubbers completely eradicate airborne bacteria, mold, fungi, viruses, ethylene and other VOCs, and converts them into harmless carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O).

What makes PCO Scrubbers different from other air cleaners?
There are three methods of reducing ethylene burden and VOCs: Ozone, Pellets, and Photocatalytic Oxidation. Ozone is a wonderful cleaner, but in higher ppm-ranges, can be hazardous to personnel. Pellet scrubbers have a few innate issues, first is the deteriorization in effectiveness as the pellets are consumed, second is the need to manually check the pellets for color, and third is disposal of any pellets in which the potassium permanganate still exists.

Compared with other PCO scrubbers, our patented design moves 10- to 20-times more airflow, which equates to more effective air purification. Also, we recommend that our active catalyst be replenished every two years, as it will erode over time due to particulate entrapment, and degradation by salts suspended in water vapor.

Do the PCO Scrubber systems produce Ozone?
PCO Scrubbers do not produce ozone, and in fact can remove it.

Will PCO Scrubbers help relieve respiratory ailments?
Many of the triggers of chronic respiratory ailments, such as allergies and asthma, are killed and removed by PCO Scrubbers, such as molds and fungus.

Will PCO Scrubber eliminate small contaminants and gaseous chemicals?
The PCO Scrubber technology is not limited by a particle’s size or properties other than its chemical makeup. If an airborne contaminant is organic it will be broken down leaving only carbon dioxide and water vapor.

How Do PCO Scrubbers work?
The patented technology used in PCO Scrubber combines two known pathogen-killing techniques, Photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) and ultraviolet light to destroy harmful airborne microbes. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is the photocatalyst used in the PCO Scrubber product. When TiO2 is bombarded with the ultraviolet photons from the lamps inside, hydroxyl radicals (OH -) are formed, which oxidize (reduce the organics they contact into carbon dioxide and water) volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) that are adsorbed on the catalyst surface. They will also kill and mineralize airborne pathogens.

How often do the UV Lamps need to be replaced?
Every two years.

Do PCO Scrubbers have any filters to clean or replace?
Yes, a pre-filter should always be used, to remove particulates, and prevent them from embedding in the catalyst. We recommend that the pre-filter on each PCO Scrubber be inspected on a quarterly basis, actual cleaning requirements will vary according to the dynamics of the airflow in your facility.

Does the PCO Catalyst have to be replaced?
The catalyst is not consumed by the air purification operation, but contamination often occurs from salts often occurring in air. The recommended time period for replacement is two years.

How much electricity do PCO Scrubbers use?
We have many different models, but as an example, the #PCO-60 has an airflow of 60 CFM, and draws 150 watts of power. At 8-cents-per-kwh, this is 12 cents per hour.

How difficult is installation? What is involved?
Our smaller units can be mounted to a wall, but most of the larger units will require hanging from the building ceiling or roof. After mounting the unit, only a power connection need be supplied. For smaller units, we supply a cord and plug for 120 or 220 volt power. Larger units normally run on 3-phase, and a hard-wired connection is advisable.
